Lombardis Pizza

Lombardi's Pizza has been around since 1905. They say they are the first pizzeria in America and certainly have an old enough building with very nice brick walled interior ambience. They put it through a coal fire oven and is their version of neopolitan pizza. We went late on a Tuesday night and were able to snag their last open table without waiting. Had to zig and zag and go back through the kitchen to get to our table. We chose a large with San Marizano tomato sauce, a nice mozzeralla, meatballs and wild mushrooms. It was tasty with a smokey flavor. There wasn't a lot to it - had the thinnest inner crust we ever ate with a bit more heft at the edges. We ordered beers that the server managed to get to us after we had finished the pizza. She over charged us on the pizza but undercharged us on the drinks. So let us be charitable and say the service is spotty, but the pizza is ok and certainly worth a visit to eat at America's oldest pizzeria.
